Whispers, 2022
Video projection. 4 mins, fabric map. 145x65 cm, sewing thread, and needle.
The streets, windows, buildings, and the entire neighbourhood whisper, and my body follows and listens.
In this project, I am stitching my feet to a printed map of the neighbourhood where I grew up in a Palestinian refugee camp, in Jordan.
This act explores and reflects upon my interior and exterior bodily experiences in areas that emerged in response to the Israeli settler colonisation of Palestine. I utilise the act of sewing my upper skin surface to the map as disruptive action to stimulate the ability to question automatic daily physical experiences withand within the camp architecture.
