Community is Sanctuary, 2025
12 April

As part of the exhibition “Recite the Love Language of My
Ancestors,” public was invited to a gathering with artists Raghad Resres
and Alexandra Papademetriou.
Hosted at NSFW Gallery, this gathering invites us to eat strawberry-flavoured
jellies as a form of celebration that is connected to the showcased work in this exhibition,
Body Remains’
Flavoured Jellies,
while engaging in a discussion centred on what community means to us,
shaped by our shared experiences within an ongoing global crisis.
Raghad Resres is a research-based artist. Her works engage with experiences of
refuge and colonization. Her artistic practice sits at the intersection of
conceptual art and performance and spans various media, including paintings and
sculptures.
Alexandra Papademetriou is a Greek/English artist and
designer. Throughout her practice she engages with problematics at the core of
artistic labour, issues that are often ignored: such as instrumentalisation,
auto-exotisation, self-exploitation. At the same time, she examines the role
and responsibility of artists in shaping culture and heritage.
